Session 21 Table 1
Peay Vineyards Savoy Pinot noir, Anderson Valley 2018
Pinot Noir
AP
Andy Peay
Principal / Owner, Peay Vineyards
Description
This is a classic Peay Savoy, capturing the friendliness and grace of wines from this vineyard. The nose features red cherry fruit aromas accented by smoky notes. On the palate a hint of sarsaparilla combines with the aromas from the nose and lingers on a long finish. It is neither fruity and lush nor is it hard and austere. There is an “iron fist in a velvet glove” character that makes it memorable and noteworthy. Clones: 56% Pommard; 26% 115; 18% Calera. 100% destemmed, on lees for 11 months in 25% new French oak barrels. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. Alcohol/ TA/pH: 13.3%/0.55/3.58
